FIRING ON SEVEN YOUTHS & OTHER INCIDENTS No body , till today , have forgotten the sacrifices made by the seven youths namely; SRI UMAKANT PRASAD , SRI RAMANAND SINGH , SRI SATISH PRASAD JHA , SRI JAGPATI KUMAR , SRI DEVIPAD CHAUDHARI , SRI RAJENDRA SINGH and SRI RAM GOVIND SINGH on August 11, 1942 upon whom the police fired while they were trying to hoist tricolor on the building of secretariat of the state of BIHAR . They all were declared spot dead due to bullets injury . The statues of all the seven youths could be seen even today on the gate of the old secretariat of BIHAR . Intensity of the movement in the district of PATNA had become extremely worst . In BIHATA trains were halted , The Dak Banglow of NAUBATPUR and the Railway station of SADISOPUR were destroyed to a considerable extent . To quell the mob becoming violent , the British Government called for a Brigade of military from RANCHI . A part of the buildings of the PATNA COLLEGE was converted into a military cantonment . Military not only started parading in the city but they were also patrolling in the river GANGAGES through steamers . Firings on the students , who were crossing the river on boat , were also reported . The military confiscated the property of SRI RANA SHIVLAKHPATI SINGH , a freedom fighter from BADH . SRI JAGAT NARAYAN LAL , who was active in NAUBATPUR , was also arrested and put behind the bars .

SWARAJ TRAIN & QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT Some of the students captured a few trains during the QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT on August 10 , 1942 itself . They started running the trains for the propagation and promotion of the movement . It was a sort of especial event as such . It helped the people of the movement to reach from one place to others . In BHAGALPUR on the other hand two revolutionary parties : 1. SIYARAM DAL & 2. PARSHURAM DAL started functioning . On August 12 , procession was arranged in BHAGALPUR town in which thousand of people took part . National Tricolor flags were also hoisted on the Post office , Police stations , Railway station and other Government buildings . On August 13 , from MUNGHYR a Newspaper named as ‘ AJAD HINDUSTAN ‘ was started publishing the very news of the movement . It played a role as voice of the people . In counter on August 26 , a Newspaper called ‘ MUNGHYR NEWS ‘ was being published by the Government through which the Government started propagating their own opinion on the QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT . A kind of propaganda war was started from both sides ; from the side of agitators and from the side of the Government which showed that the Government was in a defensive mood and the days of the British Rule in INDIA were numbered .

The Military were allowed in the civilian areas of SAHARSA , SONBARSA and SUPAUL in NORTH BIHAR . They looted the properties of the people . Their houses were ransacked and burnt . People were physically tortured . A few were beaten . It is said that SRI LAHTAN CHAUDHARI , a well-known freedom fighter of BIHAR , was forcibly disrobed of his cloths and was compelled to lay on the table and at least 26 times he was canned on his naked body by the Military Police . Number of such atrocities was unaccounted . Infantry entered into the town of BHAGALPUR to crush the movement . In SULTANGANJ about 65 people were killed in a firing of the Military Police . In KISHANGANJ , again Military resorted to fire killing more than 4 people . The responsibility to make the peaceful agitation of the people violent went on the side of the Government which unmindfully wanted to suppress the QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT ruthlessly . But it couldn’t happened . Listening to such atrocities on innocent agitating people , prisoners of the BHAGALPUR JAIL became violent and they revolted against the JAIL authorities and killed two JAIL officials and the warden of the JAIL . They also put on fire the JAIL godown and the factory . To suppress the revolting prisoners the police started firing on them , killing 29 prisoners and leaving 87 injured . As I have written in my blog earlier that police atrocities on people of BHAGALPUR gave birth to two revolutionary parties in the district like SIYARAM DAL & PARSURAM DAL . How a peaceful movement turned violent due police suppression as such can be seen from the above mentioned facts and circumstances as such .

The QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT ultimately culminated into INDIA’S freedom from the British yoke on AUGUST 15 , 1947 . The British left bruising INDIA devided into two parts— INDIA & PAKISTAN . A National Government was formed under the Leadership of Pt. JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU in NEW DELHI , while in BIHAR the Government was formed under the leadership of SRI KRISHNA SINGH .
