The Revolt of 1857 opened the door for the people of BIHAR to organize themselves against the British Raj . Two main incidents took place at the national level as a aftermath of the Revolt of 1857 : 1. In 1858 the British Government took over the charges of the affairs of INDIA and the rule of the BRITISH EAST INDIA COMPANY ended with this , and 2. The formation of the INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS in 1885 . Both had sizable effects on the masses and people of BIHAR . Since our study is concentrated on BIHAR, we would study those effects under heading : 1. Outburst of revolutionary zeal among the people of BIHAR ; 2. CHAMPARAN Movement and 3. Quit INDIA Movement in BIHAR .
OUTBURST OF REVOLUTIONARY ZEAL AMONG THE PEOPLE OF BIHAR In 1908 , spontaneous outburst of revolutionary zeal could be seen among the people of BIHAR when two young Chaps : 1. KHUDI RAM BOSE & 2. PRAFULLA CHAKI hurled bomb on two European ladies , one was the wife P. KENNEDY an Advocate of the civil court of MUZAFFARPUR and other was his daughter in anticipation of the notorious District Magistrate KINGSFORD who was very cruel in punishing the revolutionaries . The horse carts of both KINGSFORD and P. KENNEDY were of the same colour and of the same design . This was the causes of the wrong perception created in the minds of the Duo . On the dark night of April 30 , 1908 at about 8 o’clock KHUDI RAM BOSE and PRAFULLA CHAND CHAKI reached near the British Club in MUZAFFERPUR near which was located the Banglow of the notorious District Magistrate KINGSFORD . The wife and daughter of P. KENNEDY was passing through the very road on their horse cart towards their residence . Presuming as KINGSFORD’S cart the Duo hurled bomb on the cart which took lives of three people : KENNEDY’S wife , daughter and the driver of the card .
BOSE and CHAKI ran away from the sight before the news could spread far and wide . Since both were from BENGAL , they were quite unaware of the route of how to exit out of town of MUZAFFARPUR . However , they anyhow reached BAINY near PUSSA ROAD RAILWAY STATION located in SAMASTIPUR , another district adjacent to MUZAFFARPUR . BOSE stopped at the Halwaii shop of JEETU SAO to buy some roasted rice ; so that they could have that and quench their thrust in nearby well . CHAKI remained on the well which was little far from there in the bushes . The shop of Halwaii was a place where cannabis taker used to assemble to take cannabis . One SHIV PRASAD SINGH one of the cannabis taker was watching the activities of this young stranger boy BOSE while taking cannabis . He took out a paper from his pocket perhaps having sketches of the Duo accused Boys because two constables : TAHSILDAR KHAN , the bodyguard of KINGSFORD and FAJUDDIN ,an armed constable were eye witnesses of the incident and had seen both the culprits : BOSE & CHAKI . So , SHIV PRASAD SINGH and one another recognizing his face ran towards BOSE to trap him . KHUDI RAM BOSE was caught but PRAFULLA CHAND CHAKI ran away . In the trial KHUDI RAM BOSE accepted his guilt and was given death sentence on July 18 , 1908 . He requested the magistrate to hand over his dead body to his advocate KALI BABU which was allowed by the Magistrate . He was hanged to death on August 11 , 1908 while keeping the GITA in his hand . And his dead body was handed over to his advocate KALI BABU who performed his last rituals just like his son in presence of thousands of people assembled over there . And his friend PRAFULLA CHAD CHAKI was when caught by the police sub-inspector NANDLAL BOSE at MOKAMA Railway Station , he took out revolvers from his loin and shot himself to death . These young revolutionaries aroused enthusiasm among the youth to fight against the unpopular British Rule in BIHAR .
