History of mankind from the state of nature to the age of internet is long and voluminous. As per Hobbsean model man used to live in the state of nature with only philosophy that might was right. His life was brutal. No social sence. No social order. No value. Nothing like family or society. He used to live in the forest. Whatever he preyed he used to eat . Vulture-culture was the principle that governed the entire scenario.
Slowly and gradually he entered into a phase of organized living, as per Hobbs, by making contracts. Each man made contracts with each man. As a result society came into existence. Society was still pastoral. No ethics. No norm.No rule. No regulation. Man again struggled to make rule first for himself and then for society. And now organized living came into existence. Man became gregarious of Aristotlean type. Then concept of family emerged. Now need for family ethics germinated to make family stable. To make it livable some unwritten norms were followed . And later followed it tightly. As a result social ethics started dominating the society. Society became more stable.
Social ethics decided inter-personal and intra-personal relationships in the society. Love for children and respect for elders became norms of the day. Philosophy of live and let live became part of the Social life . Man realized the importance of a man . Man also realized the importance of society. Living in society was more safe than that of the pastoral life. As a result, evolved a new social order. Even though it varied from society to society it helped the mankind to reach at the highest peak of the civilization. Societal-culture and civilization grew by lips and bound . Alas ! It could have lasted long. But it didn’t not happen . It started decaying . We can see it in our day-to-day life.
Our journey from peak to down has started now . we ,now, want to live in a value-free society. Growing arena of internet has stimulated its pace . No social regulation. No social order. No ethics. Everything social we want to discard. It is not very different from that of the state of nature. Why do we want to live again as we lived in the state of nature ? Why this Mutiny of unlimited order in the society ? Isn’t so that we want to be an anarchist ? Our inter-personal and intra-personal relationship are changing. Every thing we want to see in terms of money. Murder, mass-muder, homicides and genocide—all for money , isn’t it ?
Thus , our march from the age of social ethics to value-free social order is long but painful. Our rush for over consumption of things has taken us to such a juncture that society is going to be crumbled down . Migration of unlimited numbers of people from one place to another has contributed a lots in bringing about value-free social order/disorder…..etc.
